About Us
OKJHSRA is a charter member of the National High School Rodeo Association Junior High Division. Our mission is “the development of sportsmanship, horsemanship, and character in the youth of Oklahoma.” Approximately 100 members from the state of Oklahoma compete each year in 16 qualifying rodeos and the state finals. Rodeos are held throughout Oklahoma in towns such as Shawnee, Woodward, Elk
City, Lawton, Locust Grove, Thomas, Boswell, McAlester, Chickasha and Pawhuska.

Our History |
The Junior High Division was established in 2004 by the NHSRA for 6th
,
7
th, and 8th grade student athletes.
42 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia (comprising over 2,500
Members) hold sanctioned Junior High Division Rodeos. The “best of the best” from each state/province qualify for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo,
the second largest rodeo in the world. Approximately 900 junior high cowboys and cowgirls compete at
Nationals each year for thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes.
